A Deadly Secret Love

had a friend.
He lived two blocks from me.
We were young, in love but forbid to meet.
Secretly behind homes and trees, we would
meet and kiss.
"I promise love, someday we will be free
and marry." His eyes shined brightly at me,
kissing me goodbye until midnight.
We would be free…
And married…
I waited , the old clock tower sang it’s tale
of midnight rings ~ a loud fire came from the trees.
I turned, ran as fast as I could to the trees.
Without any breathe in my chest, falling to
my knees.
Into a pool of blood ~ my love lay there, dead.
Our secret escaped, deadly as it was,
rustling came from the leaves.
I hid, my heart pounding, shaking, swallowing
hard and ran…
BANG!
A blood mark stain covered my still beating heart.
Breathing my last breathe, my body fell limp
to the ground next to his.
Turning my head to his, eyes dead marked
with blood.
A drop of water rolled down off my face
and another stain appeared.
Death was our fear…
Secrets were our mere desire…
Love came, gone with a simple
flare…
But did love die here…?
